Disney lawsuit against DeSantis and allies tossed by federal judge: Disney, one of Florida’s largest employers, suffered a defeat against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis after Judge Allen Winsor ruled that Disney lacked legal standing to sue the governor and the secretary of Florida’s Commerce Department. Disney accused DeSantis and his allies of retaliating against the company after the post spoke against Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law. A spokesperson for Disney told CNBC the company will keep fighting. (cnbc.com)
Space Coast Strawberry Festival returns this weekend: The Space Coast Strawberry Festival returns this weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, and Sunday, Feb. 4. Guests can enjoy pick-your-own-strawberries as well as an arts and craft village, live music, and more. The festival costs $6 per day to attend. Kids ages 2 and under are free. Airline to begin offering flights from Orlando to Bermuda this spring: BermudAir will offer direct flights from Orlando to Bermuda starting March 26. The airline will offer a special one-way fares from the U.S. starting at $99 to celebrate, including taxes. Flights will occur Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from MCO. (wftv.com)
MegaCon returns to Orlando with thousands expected to attend: MegaCon is back this weekend in Orlando at Orange County Convention Center from Feb. 1 to Feb. 4 at 9800 International Dr. There will be tons of celebrities, vendors, panels, comic artists and more to enjoy. Expect large crowds and heavy traffic and parking at the convention. Tickets start at $25. (orlandoweekly.com)
Long-running Orange County Elections Supervisor retires: Orange County Elections Supervisor Bill Cowles has officially retired after serving the area for over 34 years. He worked at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office since 1989. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will appoint the interim supervisor of elections for the area. (mynews13.com)
